dysport

The human face portrays our emotions and helps us communicate without even saying a word.

Frowning, laughing, and other expressions require fine movements of the muscles beneath your skin. As faces get older, years of these muscle contractions begin to leave their mark. Every smile tells a story, and Alyce Versagli, R.N. wants to help you tell yours.

Age doesn’t have the final say in how you look: you do. It’s never too early to address the wrinkles that appear naturally on or around your brows, cheeks, and lips. Dysport helps relax the muscles that contribute to facial creases and lines. To learn how Dysport can enhance your look, schedule a consultation with our friendly, knowledgeable staff. Conveniently located in Wyomissing Pennsylvania, Skin Care by Alyce is ready to deliver the aesthetic results you want.

About Dysport Facial Treatment

Dysport is an FDA-cleared cosmetic strain of botulinum neurotoxin. Though the word “toxin” gives some people pause, it really should not. Dysport is formulated to be administered in subtoxic doses, and Alyce Versagli is an expert in her field. As a licensed Medical Aesthetician, Alyce prioritizes safety and precision in all of her work.

Our clients appreciate our high standards, warm demeanor, and custom-tailored approach.

Dynamic muscle movements cause facial wrinkles or rhytids. [1] Facial fillers plump the area under a wrinkle, adding needed volume and dimension. Dysport, on the other hand, is a neuromodulator. This means that it targets the muscles under the skin and prohibits their motion. By temporarily blocking the release of acetylcholine in facial nerves, Dysport effectively relaxes your muscles. When the strain on your skin is reduced, your dynamic wrinkles soften over time. Facial rhytids decrease, giving your face the opportunity to find a new balance of expression and animation.

You will still be able to maintain the fluid motion of your facial features, but your skin will be refreshed.

Facial aging is more than an issue of loose skin. If you want to truly turn back the clock, you need to address your facial muscles as well!  Dysport will relax your overactive facial muscles to restore a calm, youthful expression.

The Benefits of Dysport Injections

Crow’s feet and laugh lines deepen over time. Neuromodulators like Dysport help interrupt the processes that contribute to these facial creases. Dysport blocks the receptor signals that your nerves send to your muscles. This halts the severe contractions of your facial muscles, allowing for a more placid, pleasant expressiveness

Dysport is in the same family of neuromodulators as Botox. They both help alleviate muscular tension, but they work slightly differently. For instance, Dysport goes to work more quickly than Botox. The effects of Dysport have an onset of two to five days, while Botox takes approximately four to seven.

The benefits of each neuromodulator vary as well. Dysport diffuses while Botox is more concentrated. This means that if you have a particularly pronounced line down the center of your brow, Botox may be the right treatment for you. If your wrinkles are more spread out across the brow, then perhaps Dysport will create the benefits you want.

Alyce Versagli can discuss the finer points of each neuromodulator in your consultation. Each face is special, so each facial line deserves unique attention from your Medical Aesthetician.

Preparation for Your Dysport Treatment

Since the Dysport injection process takes less than a half hour, your preparation is quite simple. Alyce may ask you to quit smoking or stop taking certain medications in the week prior to your procedure. Your prep is tailored to your individual needs and health.

The Dysport Facial Procedure

Before administering any injections, Alyce wants to put every client at ease. If you are interested in receiving a numbing cream to minimize discomfort during the procedure, please let us know. Alyce uses an ultrafine needle to deliver Dysport to its target, so the sensation is akin to a slight pinch.

The actual process of Dysport injection only lasts a few minutes, but the benefits can last for four months or more.

Once your procedure is done, you will have time to admire the results in the discretion and calm of our clinic. You can resume your daily activities almost immediately following a Dysport session. However, you are always welcome to stay and ask us as many follow-up questions as you may have. Our clinic is a place of comprehensive care, and that discipline continues far beyond the time of a procedure.

Recovery and Renewal

In the 24 hours following your Dysport treatment, please avoid taking aspirin or NSAIDs like ibuprofen. These products can increase the likelihood of post-treatment bruising. You should also avoid strenuous activity during this time to focus on your restful recovery process.

Stay out of the heat as best you can. No hot showers, overexposure to sunlight, or jacuzzi/sauna excursions. Alyce may encourage you to apply ice to the injection areas, but try to limit pressure on your skin. Keep these ice applications to 20 minutes or less to allow proper circulation to aid your recovery.

Please don’t rub or scratch your face. The Dysport needs to find its way to the appropriate nerve pathways. Aggravating your face could impede Dysport’s rejuvenating effect.

Results from Dysport Treatment

Unlike superficial skin treatments, Dysport goes deep. Its effects may take two or more days to appear. Neuromodulators need time to impact the signals from your nerves to your muscles. Once this dynamic has taken effect, you should see results within the week. The lines on your face will gradually soften and fade with each time you receive neuromodulators. When you start to notice the signs of aging, the earlier you start neuromodulators, the less dynamic wrinkles you will develop.

To effectively reduce and soften these wrinkles on your forehead, crow’s feet and glabella, it is best to keep up with your treatment every 3-6 months.

Complementary Facial Procedures

Due to how safe and minimally invasive Dysport is, it can be combined with other aesthetic procedures. While Dysport works under your skin to reduce muscle contractions, a Chemical Peel affects the surface of your face. A light chemical peel can help even your complexion by reducing the effects of sun, acne, and age spots.

You may want to consider pairing your Dysport treatment with IPL, Intense Pulsed Light or other lasers. By focusing safe rays of light on the “problem areas” of your skin, Alyce can treat rosacea, brown spots and fine lines and wrinkles.

Another wonderful Dysport partner is a Dermal Filler. [2] While Dysport regulates the underlying muscles in your face, a filler (like Juvederm or Restylane) can add volume. Fillers use hyaluronic acid to prop up the area under a wrinkle to achieve smooth, wrinkle-free skin. Hyaluronic acid also helps preserve your natural features and promotes the production of collagen.

FAQ

What is the difference between Dysport and Botox?

Each neuromodulator is formulated differently. A dosage of Botox does not equal the same potency as that same dosage of Dysport. Ask a trained practitioner like Alyce Versagli for the specific serum information that applies to your facial enhancement needs. Botox and Dysport have different activation rates and diffusion properties.

How long does a Dysport treatment last?

Results vary, but a typical treatment lasts four months. By scheduling a return visit to see Alyce Versagli, you can extend the effects of Dysport with additional sessions.

Can I shower after receiving Dysport?

In the 24 hours following a Dysport treatment, you should avoid wearing makeup. Alyce Versagli will give you specific instructions on caring for your face, including how to wash it gently and effectively.
