About Dermal Fillers
What Are The Benefits?
Quick Procedure With Instant Results
For our expert team, a dermal filler procedure is so quick and effortless that many of our clients elect to undergo it over their lunch break. Because the hyaluronic acid injections work almost instantly, they can leave our offices with almost immediate results, ready to jump back into the current of their daily lives.
Smooth Wrinkles & Fine Lines
Juvederm and Restylane work by injecting hyaluronic acid into the skin. The naturally found carbohydrate then expands underneath the surface of the skin, smoothing out any surrounding wrinkles and fine lines. Once the area is taut and firm, our clients notice that their wrinkles have diminished. This can include crow’s feet, marionette lines, vertical lip lines, and jowls. And even better, numerous studies have found that dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane can trigger an increase in collagen production. Collagen is a necessary building block made in deep dermal layers that keeps our skin looking young and radiant. So, this sudden influx of collagen brought on by a dermal filler injection can bring even more smoothing and tightening to your countenance.
Add More Volume
For those looking to boost up sunken areas of the face like the under eyes or cheeks, look no further than to Juvederm and Restylane. These fillers can bring a refreshed pump to your recessed features whether that be around eyes, cheeks, or mouth.
Longer Lasting Results
Many people who consider getting cosmetic work done are anxious about having permanent results that they don’t love. This deters many people from taking the leap and scheduling that initial consultation. But, because hyaluronic acid is a naturally found chemical in the human body, this means the chemical can easily be broken down by the body without needing to be removed or causing any reactions. Typically, our patients can see their beautiful results for up to 12-24 months. So, if you love the results you see then another session isn’t necessary for a whole year or more!
Choosing the Right Filler
When researching which filler would best suit your needs, it is important to note the similarities and differences between the two. While both Juvederm and Restylane contain hyaluronic acid, they differ in consistencies which leads to different modes of implementation between the two. For instance, Juvederm, one of the gels, is smoother and certain formulations can diffuse across a treatment area more efficiently. This is perfect when treating certain areas of the face, especially lip lines. However, other fillers may be more movable and flexible and do better around the mouth. Others are more firm and are more able to fold up areas – for example, the upper cheeks. Each of these fillers has different formulations that have been designed to treat specific areas, and Alyce will be able to recommend a tailored treatment plan that’s best for you.
If you still have questions about the differences between the two, we are happy to answer them during your personal consultation. Here, we can go over which filler is perfect for addressing your unique desired results.
Am I Eligible For Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers can help eliminate or improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and areas needing volume, such as the lips. If these signs of aging are bothering you, you may be a good candidate for dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are a fast, easy, cosmetic treatment, but there are a few requirements for patients, including:
- Must be over 21 years of age
- Want to see incredible results but are not quite ready to “go under the knife”
- Aren’t experiencing any active pimples, rashes, skin sores, hives, cysts, or infections
- Wish to see healthier, younger-looking skin almost immediately
- Unwilling to commit to lengthy procedures or downtime
Your Visit With Alyce
After you schedule your personal consultation, you will come to our Wyomissing office right off Penn Avenue. Here, we will take you to a private consultation room and go over your medical, surgical, and prescription history, noting if you may have undergone any cosmetic procedures in the past, and their effects. Then, you’ll have the chance to discuss your aesthetic desires and concerns. We will examine the laxity in your skin and where your fine lines and wrinkles reside to determine the best course of treatment. If dermal fillers will be a good solution to your skin concerns, we will walk you through the many Juvederm and Restylane products to find out which one would work best for you. If dermal fillers are elected as the procedure to deliver your desired results, then we will schedule a time and date for your first session here at Skin Care by Alyce! In the meantime, please follow these preparatory steps to ensure a smooth procedure and optimal recovery.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin as this may cause bleeding during and after the injections.
- Avoid alcohol for 1-2 days before and after treatment as alcohol thins the blood, which can cause unnecessary bruising and bleeding after injections.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medication as this can also lead to excessive bleeding after injections.
One of the many beauties in Juvederm and Restylane is the simplicity yet superior effectiveness of their procedures. While relatively painless compared to other, more involved procedures, you may choose to have a topical anesthetic applied to the treatment area to avoid any discomfort. After we inject the solution into your skin, the filler will be carefully massaged into place to make sure it yields the desired firmness, shape, and texture. Next, we will treat any other areas of your visage that may have been discussed during your consultation. Lastly, once your filler treatment has been completed, you will be free to get back to your daily life, enjoying the immediate effects of these incredible fillers.
Recovery & Results
Because the fillers work almost instantly, you can start to enjoy the benefits right away. Also, because the fillers are minimally invasive and don’t require any sedation, downtime and recovery are virtually nonexistent. We have had clients in the past experience slight swelling and puffiness around the targeted areas, but this is normal and usually fades within the next day or two. There may also be slight bruising which can last up to one week, but makeup can be used to conceal it. Many times, Alyce will use a blunt-tipped cannula in her treatments. This avoids the injury to tissues and blood vessels that a needle can cause. duration of your results may vary depending on which product(s) of filler is selected for your particular procedure. You can expect them to last on average 12-24 months.
